One of the most anticipated games of college football's Week 4 arrives Saturday, Sept. 26, when No. 1 Texas goes on the road to face No. 14 Tennessee at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville. Kickoff is set for noon ET, 11 a.m. local time in Tennessee.
The game will be carried nationally on ABC, with Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit handling the broadcast. Viewers without a traditional cable package can stream the broadcast through fubo or DIRECTV, both of which offer free trials for new users, or through the ESPN app.
Texas arrives at the top of the rankings after a thrilling victory over Ohio State in Week 2, a result that lifted the Longhorns into the No. 1 spot nationally. Head coach Steve Sarkisian's team has performed well across its first three games of the season.
A central storyline for the Longhorns is quarterback Arch Manning, who is still working to prove himself at the helm of the program. The question facing Texas is whether the young quarterback can sustain a national title push while continuing to develop.
Tennessee enters the matchup as the lower-ranked side, but the Volunteers hold a significant home-field advantage in Knoxville. The Vols have been dominant through their early-season games, though those victories came against lighter competition in Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State.
Under center, Tennessee has turned to true freshman Faizon Brandon as its starting quarterback. Brandon has shown promise in the role, but the visit from the nation's top-ranked team represents a step up in the level of opposition he has faced.
Looking ahead, Tennessee hosts Auburn on Oct. 3 at 3:30 p.m. ET before traveling to Arkansas on Oct. 10. The Vols then welcome Alabama on Oct. 17 and head to South Carolina on Oct. 24, with kickoff times for the final three of those games still to be determined.
Texas, meanwhile, does not play again until Oct. 10, when the Longhorns face Oklahoma at 3:30 p.m. ET. That is followed by a home date with Florida on Oct. 17, another home game against Ole Miss on Oct. 24, and a matchup with Mississippi State on Oct. 31, with those final three kickoffs also listed as to be announced.
Saturday's meeting at Neyland Stadium gives both programs an early measuring stick for the SEC season, pitting the country's top-ranked team against a ranked opponent on its home turf.
