Speaking on 'The Right Time with Bomani Jones,' commentator Bomani Jones argued that the promise of the Sanders era in Boulder has faded and that the recruiting advantage of having him as coach no longer applies, citing money as a barrier Sanders himself has raised publicly.

Colorado managed 348 total yards but committed four turnovers and failed on three fourth-down attempts. Sanders also expressed frustration that some players were laughing while leaving the field after the loss, saying in his press conference that he is there to win.

Jones noted that Sanders has always taken competition seriously, pointing to his two-sport professional career as evidence. But he questioned how Sanders' distinctive public persona is received by the players under him and what it signals to those he coaches.
