Michael Irvin Points to Taylor Swift Behind Travis Kelce's Fast Start

The Hall of Fame receiver told The Pat McAfee Show that marriage to Taylor Swift has the Chiefs tight end looking sharper than he has in years.

Two games into the 2026 campaign, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is producing at a level few expected from a 36-year-old in his 14th NFL season. In Sunday's 33-30 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts, he caught nine passes for 101 yards and a touchdown, and moved past Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk to become the league's all-time leader in yards after the catch.

Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin offered an explanation during Monday's broadcast of The Pat McAfee Show. In his view, Kelce's marriage to Taylor Swift deserves some of the credit for the tight end's renewed energy and conditioning.

"Travis Kelce has been sleeping, he's been eating right, he's structured, and he looks younger this year than he ever looked the last two years at least, right now, after he's gotten married," Irvin said. "So Taylor Swift, you're doing a good thing, girl."

Host Pat McAfee backed the idea, suggesting Kelce may have arrived at training camp in what he called "wedding shape" and noting the supportive atmosphere in the suite where Swift and others watch games, with everyone tracking each snap.

The couple married on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York, a ceremony officiated by actor Adam Sandler with Jason Kelce, Travis's older brother, serving as best man. Kelce's opening stretch has quieted questions about whether he could still perform at an elite level this late in his career.
