Chennai Super Kings say their board will examine claims of match-fixing published in an undercover report by Tehelka, and restated a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption. A franchise official, speaking anonymously to Cricbuzz because of the sensitivity of the matter, said directors will gather before the club's Annual General Meeting on September 25 to discuss it. The official emphasized that nothing has been independently confirmed at this stage.
According to the report, a CSK player passed confidential playing XI details to a former first-class cricketer based in Delhi, who resold them to bookmakers in London. An undercover journalist said the intermediary collected Rs 60 lakh for each of five matches in IPL 2025, roughly Rs 3 crore in all. The report also said the player offered to continue supplying information in IPL 2026 if a particular source was bought at auction for about Rs 1 crore with a claimed 90 percent accuracy, though that source went unpicked.
The Delhi Premier League was also implicated, with the report alleging leaked team information that matched the lineup announced for a DPL game on August 3. The Delhi and District Cricket Association released a statement noting the reports, calling the allegations unverified and urging that due process run its course before anyone is judged. The DDCA added that it has written to the relevant authorities and passed on what it knows.
Neither the BCCI nor the ICC's Anti-Corruption Unit has publicly addressed the specific claims. The matter carries extra weight for CSK, which served a two-year suspension after a member of its promoter group was tied to illegal betting.
