Indiana Teen Powerlifter Set for International Meet Abroad

Addalyn Fugate, a 15-year-old Castle High School student, will represent the U.S. while chasing her own world records overseas.

Addalyn Fugate, a 15-year-old from Newburgh, Indiana, is preparing to compete at an international powerlifting event overseas. The Castle High School student competes in the 90kg division, where rivals are expected from Ireland, England and Germany, among other countries.

Fugate already owns two world records along with numerous state and national marks, and she has never lost a meet. She discovered the sport after training with her brother, who lifted casually and invited her to join him.

Her coach, Mike Stagg, who owns and coaches at The Pit Barbell Club, said her mental toughness matches her physical ability. He praised her work ethic and competitive drive, describing her as someone who handles difficult training without hesitation.

Fugate said competing in U.S. colors is an honor and that her goal at the event is to break her own records and help deliver a win for the American team.
