The class of 2027 point guard rearranged his travel plans after canceling a stop at USC this week.
Nasir Anderson, a highly ranked guard in the 2027 class, has rearranged his recruiting calendar and will arrive in Chapel Hill sooner than expected. Sherrell McMillan of Inside Carolina reported Tuesday that the Prolific Prep (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) player begins an official visit to North Carolina on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
The change follows Anderson's decision to scrap a visit to Southern Cal that had been set for this week. Working together with associate head coach Chuck Martin, the player and his family arranged the earlier trip to the Tar Heels.
Anderson rates as the No. 4 point guard in the country and sits inside the national top 10 overall. He is the second 2027 lead guard to take in North Carolina this fall, after Beckham Black, the class's top-ranked player at the position.
The 6-foot-4 Savannah, Ga., native had hip surgery in June, an injury that ended his summer and AAU play early, though a full recovery is anticipated before the season starts. He spent two years at Norcross (Ga.) High School before moving to Prolific Prep last year.
Recruiting contact has been steady at Prolific Prep since the window opened Sept. 9. Michael Malone evaluated Anderson and 2027 UNC target Lewis Uwvo at the school on Sept. 10 and came back for a second look on Sept. 17. In August, Anderson trimmed his list to 10 schools: Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Providence, Tennessee, UConn, USC, Virginia, and Syracuse. He has already taken officials to Virginia and Providence, with October trips booked for Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
