Athletics Rally Past Angels 9-7 After Trailing by Six

The Los Angeles Angels watched a 6-0 lead slip away as the Athletics scored nine runs over the final three innings Tuesday in West Sacramento.
The Los Angeles Angels carried a 6-0 advantage into the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesday night in West Sacramento, but the Athletics stormed back with nine runs over three innings to win 9-7 at Sutter Health Park.
The rally began in the sixth, when Shea Langeliers doubled and scored on a Lawrence Butler triple. A failed double-play attempt on a ground ball allowed Butler to add another run, and the Athletics tacked on three more in the seventh on hits by Alika Williams, Carlos Cortes and Langeliers, plus a bases-loaded walk to Jeff McNeil.
Cortes put the Athletics in front with a two-run homer off Sam Bachman in the eighth, and Zack Gelof added a two-run shot off Blake Weiman later in the inning for a three-run cushion. The Angels got one run back in the ninth but fell short, dropping to 60-97 on the season.
