Pittsburgh Steelers defensive captain Cameron Heyward addressed his team's offensive line problems on his podcast, "Not Just Football with Cam Heyward." The discussion followed a Week 2 loss to the New England Patriots in which quarterback Aaron Rodgers was pressured on 47% of his drop-backs.
Heyward identified breakdowns in pre-snap communication as the reason unblocked rushers kept reaching the quarterback. He said free runners coming through the front are a sign of communication failures and that cohesion within the unit, knowing what to expect from teammates, also plays a major role.
Co-host Hayden Walsh voiced concern about the hits Rodgers absorbed, noting that the veteran quarterback cannot keep taking that level of punishment.
