Hurricanes fans Preview Lenovo Center Renovations Ahead of Preseason Home Opener

Supporters of the defending Stanley Cup champions toured new seating, concessions and premium spaces at the Raleigh arena before Tuesday's exhibition against Florida.

The Carolina Hurricanes played their first home preseason game of the year Tuesday night at Lenovo Center, welcoming the Florida Panthers. It was the club's first home appearance since capturing its second Stanley Cup, and supporters arrived to find a noticeably changed building.

The overhaul, branded 'Lenovo Center 2.0,' brought fresh lower-bowl seats, broader aisles, modernized restrooms and expanded options for families. Additional LED lighting was installed in parts of the lower bowl, and a second grab-and-go concession stand is now operating. Two premium spaces open this season: the Lenovo Legend Club, with a full bar, dining and lounge seating, and the Bunker Suites, which provide private viewing areas with catered food and beverages.

Fan reaction was largely positive. Anna Bose called the new areas 'very cool' after walking through them, while season ticket holder Sue Bohnsack welcomed the seat replacement, saying the old ones had needed to go for years. The relocations that came with the work moved some longtime customers, including Frank Amato, who shifted from section 129 to section 110. Bohnsack was less enthusiastic about the premium options, saying anyone watching from the Bunker 'might as well stay home.'

More work is still planned, team officials said, among them a beer hall open all year and upgraded exterior entrances. The regular-season home opener is set for Sept. 29 against the Panthers and will feature the raising of the championship banner.
