Hurricanes Edge Panthers 3-2 in Shootout Behind Nadeau's Strong Preseason

Bradly Nadeau scored in regulation and delivered the shootout winner as Carolina beat Florida 3-2 in preseason play at Lenovo Center.

Bradly Nadeau kept up his strong preseason Tuesday, scoring in regulation and then converting in the shootout as the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Florida Panthers 3-2 at Lenovo Center. Felix Unger Sorum also beat Akira Schmid in the shootout, while Mark Jankowski was the lone Carolina skater to miss.

Florida jumped ahead early, with Brady Tkachuk opening the scoring about four minutes into the first period. Nadeau answered just over two minutes later with a shot past Jacob Markstrom, but Aleksander Barkov restored the Panthers' lead only 18 seconds after that.

Justin Robidas tied the game in the second period with a snap shot from the faceoff circle. Carolina outshot Florida 11-7 in the middle frame, while the Panthers held a 10-8 edge in shots during the third.

Brandon Bussi started in goal for the Hurricanes before Cayden Primeau came on in relief late in the second period and kept Florida off the board the rest of the way, including overtime. Schmid replaced Markstrom in the Florida net late in the third.

Carolina's preseason schedule continues Thursday in Greensboro, where more regulars are expected to play, before a Sunday finale in Nashville. The Hurricanes open the regular season at home against these same Panthers.
