Los Angeles is elevating wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling from the practice squad while placing tight end David Njoku on injured reserve.
Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said Wednesday that wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling is being promoted from the practice squad to the active roster. The receiver joined the Chargers last week.
Valdes-Scantling spent training camp with the Dallas Cowboys before being released during final roster cuts in August. Last season he appeared in five games for the Pittsburgh Steelers, catching 10 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown. He has previously played for the San Francisco 49ers, New Orleans Saints, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers.
Harbaugh also announced that tight end David Njoku will be placed on injured reserve with a fibula injury. Tight end Charlie Kolar, who had forearm surgery Monday, had been expected to join Njoku on injured reserve, but Harbaugh said Kolar will avoid that designation.
