Quarterbacks, receivers and rushers delivered big numbers across Greater Cincinnati during Week 6 of the high school football season.
Week 6 of the Greater Cincinnati high school football season produced a string of notable individual performances, headlined by a coaching milestone on Cincinnati's west side. St. Xavier head coach Steve Specht recorded the 200th win of his career as the Bombers defeated Elder in a game that also marked a breakout start for a young quarterback.
Making his first start under center, Thomas George guided St. Xavier to the victory over Elder by passing for 192 yards and three touchdowns. The win over their Greater Catholic League rival stood out as one of the week's most significant results in the region.
Moeller's sophomore quarterback Hunter McLaughlin put together one of the most efficient outings of the week. He completed 14 of 18 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns in just one half of work, helping the Crusaders roll past La Salle 45-0.
Princeton stayed unbeaten with a 48-22 road win at Lakota East, improving to 6-0. Key'Sean Torbert led the way through the air, going 15-for-24 for 227 yards and a touchdown, while Jordan Hall carried 15 times for 140 yards and four scores on the ground.
Several other quarterbacks posted big numbers. Roman Garr threw for 300 yards and five touchdowns in Colerain's 47-31 win over Oak Hills, and Anderson's Owen Scalf went 26-for-30 for 433 yards, five touchdowns and an interception as part of a 469-yard team passing night in a 58-14 rout of Milford. Mason's Alex Nagel completed two passes, both for touchdowns, and ran for 118 yards and two more scores in a 40-3 win over Hamilton, while Gavin Nolan stepped in at quarterback for Middletown and threw for 289 yards and four touchdowns plus a rushing score in a 40-0 shutout of Sycamore.
Turpin's passing attack was clicking on all cylinders in a 55-19 win over West Clermont. Will Schmittauer threw for 368 yards and four touchdowns, and junior Callan Polland caught five passes for 169 yards, including all four of the Spartans' receiving touchdowns. Anderson's Jordan Davis also had a huge night through the air game against Milford, hauling in eight receptions for 177 yards and an 80-yard touchdown.
On the ground, Covington Catholic sophomore Kiyan Miller ran for four touchdowns in a 41-14 victory over Louisville Central. Lakota West's Kenyon Norman, a Northwestern commit, surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for the season in just six games after running for 101 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries in a 38-7 win over Fairfield.
Standout efforts also came in defeat and on defense. Kings quarterback Jack Sills completed 23 of 34 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns in a 35-24 loss to Lebanon, with teammate Nathan Tucker adding five catches for 141 yards, a touchdown and an interception. St. Bernard-Elmwood Place senior Lucas Cannady threw for 265 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 189 yards and three scores in a 38-26 loss to Summit Country Day. Highlands sophomore Quinton Simon returned two interceptions for touchdowns and added a rushing score in a 78-6 blowout of Harrison County.
