Friday Roundup: Southland High School Football Scores for Sept. 25

CIF City and Southern Section teams across the Los Angeles area closed out Friday night with results spanning league play, nonleague matchups and intersectional contests.
High school football teams across the Southland wrapped up play on Friday, Sept. 25, with results recorded across the CIF City Section and CIF Southern Section. The slate included league fixtures, nonleague meetings, intersectional games and an eight-man schedule.
In the City Section, Coliseum League play opened with Fremont shutting out Dymally 30-0. Eastern League results had Bell beating Huntington Park 36-6, Garfield topping Legacy 42-24, and South Gate rolling past Los Angeles Roosevelt 38-0.
East Valley League games saw Arleta defeat San Fernando Arroyo 48-19, Monroe edge Fulton 21-14, North Hollywood beat Verdugo Hills 43-7, and Sun Valley Poly overwhelm Grant 61-6. In the Valley Mission League, Panorama blanked Reseda 45-0 while San Fernando handled Van Nuys 32-6.
City Section nonleague contests produced wins for Cleveland over Crenshaw (24-18), Los Angeles Marshall over Jefferson (57-6), Los Angeles University over Franklin (41-6), Los Angeles Wilson over Los Angeles (38-0), Mendez over Torres (26-0), and Washington Prep over Rancho Dominguez (44-6).
Southern Section league play included Schurr's 34-12 Almont League win against Montebello, Burbank Burroughs taking a forfeit over Pasadena in the Boulder League, and Crescenta Valley defeating Gabrielino 58-12 in the same circuit. Mary Star of the Sea beat St. Genevieve 49-7 in the Camino Real League, and Arcadia downed Temple City 40-7 in the Crest League.
Foothill League results featured Golden Valley beating Canyon Country Canyon 49-10, Hart defeating Saugus 34-17, and Valencia shutting out West Ranch 42-0. Paloma Valley posted a 69-0 Ivy League win over Liberty, Silver Valley beat Temecula Prep 36-7 in the Manzanita League, Rubidoux topped Jurupa Valley 49-13 in the River Valley League, and Loara beat Magnolia 43-8 in the Tango League.
The Southern Section nonleague card ran more than 50 games. Among them were Alhambra's 33-0 win over Glenn, Edison's 36-0 defeat of Summit, Long Beach Cabrillo's 58-48 shootout with Long Beach Jordan, Rancho Cucamonga's 14-7 win over Long Beach Poly, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame's 30-0 blanking of Millikan, Sierra Canyon's 42-10 win over Oxnard Pacifica, St. Monica's 62-21 victory against Cantwell-Sacred Heart, and Servite's 28-9 win over Damien.
Other notable nonleague finals included Charter Oak edging St. Francis 20-16, Grand Terrace nipping Rim of the World 22-21, Muir slipping past Redondo Union 8-7, Mira Costa beating Culver City 28-21, West Covina defeating Norwalk 51-23, and Vista del Lago routing Granite Hills 48-7. Multiple games ended in shutouts, among them Banning over West Valley (55-0), Santa Ana over Ganesha (51-0), and Ontario Christian over Vasquez (42-0).
Intersectional and eight-man play closed the night. Harvard-Westlake beat Birmingham 21-7, Peninsula outlasted Narbonne 34-28, Steele Canyon edged Dorsey 28-26, and Valhalla won by forfeit over St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, as did Lucerne Valley over Warner. In eight-man action, Sage Hill defeated Chadwick 42-36 in the Tri-Valley League, Faith Baptist shut out Trinity Classical Academy 34-0, and Lancaster Baptist and Hesperia Christian played to a 41-41 tie.
