Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will not play in Sunday's home game against the Seattle Seahawks, head coach Dan Quinn told reporters Wednesday. Quinn said there was no further update on Daniels because the quarterback was meeting with another specialist. Daniels dislocated his elbow late in the first half of Sunday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
According to ESPN's John Keim, Quinn confirmed Daniels is out for the Seahawks game. The injury happened when Daniels was stepped on after taking a snap, stumbled backward and reached for the ground to steady himself, bending his elbow at an awkward angle.
Marcus Mariota is expected to take over as the starter, a role he filled during Daniels' injury absences last season. Daniels is expected to be sidelined for an extended period, though the team has not given a timetable.
Washington also ruled out safety Nick Cross with an internal injury. Linebacker Frankie Luvu, tight end Chig Okonkwo and defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw are considered wait-and-see, while right guard Sam Cosmi is in the concussion protocol.
