ESPN analyst Ben Solak says the winless Chargers look like one of the NFL's worst teams and could be picking in the top 10 next April.
ESPN NFL analyst Ben Solak has projected the Los Angeles Chargers to hold a top-10 selection in the 2027 NFL Draft. The Chargers sit at 0-2 after dropping a home game to a team that won only three games last season.
Solak said he could not identify 10 teams worse than the Chargers through two weeks and questioned whether he could even find five. He compared the current Chargers to the 2022 Denver Broncos team coached by Nathaniel Hackett and said nothing about the club is functioning at the moment.
The analyst also pointed to a demanding stretch of the schedule beginning with a Week 3 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. He wrote that a 2-7 record or worse by the end of that run felt more likely than alternatives.
Solak added that quarterback Justin Herbert has let bad plays spiral and appears more visibly skittish, frustrated and confused than he can recall seeing him.
The Chargers have made 26 top-10 picks in franchise history, most recently selecting offensive tackle Joe Alt at No. 5 overall in 2024.
