Adams says bond with Rodgers remains above what he has with Stafford

The Rams receiver credited his years with Aaron Rodgers for shaping him, even as his partnership with Matthew Stafford keeps growing.

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams said Tuesday on "The Pat McAfee Show" that the understanding he built with Aaron Rodgers stands apart from what he has developed alongside Matthew Stafford. Asked how long it takes for a receiver and quarterback to sync up, Adams pointed to his history with Rodgers as the benchmark.

The remarks came one day after a big performance, in which Adams caught eight passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns in a Monday night win over the New York Giants in Inglewood, California. He noted that he and Stafford first worked together only in the week leading up to the opener last year, leaving little preparation time before that season began.

Adams explained that their familiarity has grown since then, producing results like his outing against the Giants. He also said his responsibilities in the Rams offense are broader than the role he held in Green Bay.

Reflecting on his career, Adams called playing with Rodgers early on one of the great benefits of his career, crediting that relationship with teaching him to be a detail-oriented receiver. The two teamed for nine seasons with the Packers and later the Jets, combining on 83 touchdowns, the third-highest total in NFL history.

In two seasons with Stafford, Adams has 16 receiving touchdowns — a strong figure, though well short of the production he and Rodgers delivered over their years together.
