Staples, Greenwich Lead Undefeated Group in Week 2 Connecticut Boys Soccer Rankings

Seven of the top ten teams in GametimeCT's Week 2 boys soccer rankings are still unbeaten, with Staples, Greenwich and South Windsor yet to concede a goal.

GametimeCT released its second weekly boys soccer power rankings of the season on Sept. 22, and the same ten programs held their places, though several shifted positions. The list is compiled by boys soccer writer Will Aldam and is separate from the outlet's media and Connecticut coaches polls.

Staples and Greenwich stayed at the top after each picked up three victories last week, and neither side has conceded a goal so far this season. Glastonbury climbed one spot to No. 3 after a win over Tolland, which dropped to No. 4. South Windsor, also unbeaten in goals against, held at No. 5.

Stamford made the largest move of the week, jumping two positions to No. 6 on the strength of three wins. That pushed Xavier down to No. 7 and Trumbull to No. 8. Xavier remains undefeated but slipped slightly after a 1-1 draw with West Haven, while Trumbull fell 2-0 to Staples and faces Stamford on Friday.

East Hartford, still undefeated, kept the No. 9 spot, and No. 10 Hall stayed put as well after recovering from an 0-2 start with a victory over Farmington and a tie against Glastonbury.
