Manchester United's Reece Munro Earns First Wales Under-21 Call-Up

The 19-year-old defender, a product of United's academy, has been named in the Wales Under-21 squad for European qualifiers against Belgium and Austria.

Manchester United teenager Reece Munro has been called up by Wales for the first time. The London-born centre-back has been included in the Under-21 squad for upcoming European qualifiers against Belgium and Austria.

Munro came through United's academy and has featured mainly for the club's Under-18 and Under-21 sides. The 19-year-old signed his first professional contract in June 2025 and previously trained with the senior squad, including a post-season tour of Asia under then-manager Ruben Amorim, where he faced ASEAN All-Stars and Hong Kong.

He has made two appearances for United this season, playing in Premier 2 wins over Ipswich Town and Leicester City. The call-up is a notable milestone after a year disrupted by injury, with a serious problem suffered in January having kept him out for an extended period.

The Wales Under-21 side is coached by former Leeds United and Leicester City midfielder Matty Jones.
