A 1-0 defeat to Rangers at Celtic Park on Sunday extended Celtic's losing streak to three matches. Ryan Naderi scored the only goal of the game in the first half, and the home side managed just a single shot on target while rarely threatening going forward.
The loss came a week after Rangers had won 3-0 at Ibrox in the Premier Sports Cup. Celtic were also beaten 3-1 by Ferencvaros in their opening Europa League fixture on Thursday.
Former Celtic captain Scott Brown, speaking on the BBC, was blunt about the performance but still expressed faith in the club's manager. He acknowledged that Rangers deserved the win and that Celtic have considerable work ahead of them.
"They hit the target once and I think they've got a lot of improving to do," Brown said. He added that the team is not scoring enough and has been conceding in every game recently.
Despite the poor run, Brown believes O'Neill can lead the club forward. He pointed to the return of Yang and other injured players as key to restoring results.
