The Celtic manager says he will reflect during the international break and speak with the board after a 1-0 Old Firm loss extended a poor run.
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill says he plans to reflect on his position and speak with the club's board after Sunday's 1-0 loss to Rangers at Celtic Park. A first-half goal from Ryan Naderi made it three defeats in a row for the Glasgow club.
The derby loss came after a 3-0 Premier Sports Cup defeat at Ibrox the previous weekend and a Europa League setback against Ferencvaros on Thursday. Celtic had also suffered a costly Champions League defeat to LASK earlier in the campaign.
Speaking to the Daily Record, the 74-year-old said supporters had every right to ask whether he could change the team's direction. He said he would consider whether he could still help the squad, adding that age may play a role when results go wrong.
O'Neill, who joked he would be 110 in two years, said he would use the upcoming international break to get away for a few days and think things over. He said he would speak to the board and acknowledged they might also want to talk with him.
He also looked back on his return to the club last October, an opportunity he said he never expected, and a second stint from January that ended with a league title. He described the clinching win over Hearts as among the finest moments of his career, alongside the 2001 treble.
