Quarterback Chris Oladokun, who won two Super Bowls as a Chiefs practice-squad player, has signed with the CFL's B.C. Lions after his release from Kansas City.
Quarterback Chris Oladokun has started a new chapter in Canada, signing with the B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football League after his August release from the Kansas City Chiefs. The move ended his stint as a practice-squad understudy to Patrick Mahomes, a role that brought him two championship rings.
Pittsburgh took Oladokun in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He later landed on Kansas City's practice squad and spent two seasons there, earning Super Bowl titles following the 2023 and 2024 campaigns despite seeing no regular-season action. His most extensive look came in a preseason appearance against Tennessee, where he went 11-for-16 for 111 yards. After sitting out a preseason game against Seattle, he was cut via an injury settlement.
Once no further NFL interest materialized, Oladokun headed north, where he is set to serve as Nathan Rourke's backup with the Lions. He marked the signing on Instagram with the phrase 'New beginnings!' The switch also reunites him with his younger brother Jordan, a member of the Lions' practice roster.
Speaking to A to Z Sports, Oladokun said Mahomes reached out immediately after the departure. 'I checked my phone, he was the first dude that texted me,' Oladokun said, adding that Mahomes regularly mentored quarterbacks in preseason and that teammates feel his absence.
