Maple Mountain Rallies Past Spanish Fork in Five Sets

Maple Mountain came back from a 2-1 set deficit to beat Region 7 rival Spanish Fork 25-23, 23-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-7 on Tuesday night.

Maple Mountain defeated Spanish Fork 25-23, 23-25, 21-25, 25-18, 15-7 in a five-set Region 7 girls volleyball match Tuesday night. Both teams entered the contest in the middle of the region standings.

After dropping sets two and three to fall behind 2-1, Maple Mountain head coach Aspen Smith said her players needed to reset mentally and play with more aggression. She credited the group's coachability and willingness to keep fighting after setbacks.

Smith also praised how her players supported one another during the difficult middle sets, saying they built each other up and kept pushing forward together.

The Golden Eagles took the fourth set to force a decider, then opened the fifth on a 10-2 run to seize control. Smith said her pre-fifth-set message centered on maximum effort, communication, and playing as a unified team.

Maple Mountain next faces Region 7 leader Pleasant Grove, a team Smith said her players have wanted to beat since last year. She expressed hope that Tuesday's comeback will carry momentum into that matchup.
