The defender says his return from a calf injury is close but he will not feature when Bayer Leverkusen host Mainz on October 10.
Bayer Leverkusen full-back Guéla Doué has told BILD that he is closing in on a return to action, but the calf problem he picked up in training will keep him sidelined a bit longer. The 23-year-old summer arrival said he expects to be available for selection again within a matter of weeks.
His recovery will not come soon enough for the visit of Mainz, however. Asked by the German outlet whether he could be ready for the fixture on Saturday, October 10, the Ivory Coast international made his status plain: no, he will have to keep waiting.
Doué has already taken in matchdays at the BayArena as a spectator, and he liked what he experienced. He said the atmosphere at recent home games was strong, added that he is eager to run out at the ground, and noted he has spotted supporters wearing his shirt, something he said he appreciates.
