The Chicago White Sox beat the Kansas City Royals 14-11 on Monday at Kauffman Stadium, handing Kansas City its fifth consecutive loss and its eighth defeat in the last nine games.
Chicago jumped ahead 6-0 through three innings against starter Daniel Lynch IV, with Chase Meidroth homering twice and Brenton Doyle adding an opposite-field shot, all off changeups. Lynch was charged with nine runs after a Miguel Vargas single, a Tommy Pham walk and a Randal Grichuk home run in the fourth made it 9-1.
Nick Loftin got Kansas City on the board with a solo home run in the sixth. Tony Gonsolin, making his Royals and 2026 debut, kept it close for two innings before allowing a Grichuk double and a Munetaka Murakami home run in the seventh, then loading the bases and walking in a run. Reliever Nolan Hoffman gave up an Andrew Benintendi single that pushed the lead to 14-4.
The Royals rallied late. Bobby Witt Jr. finished with three hits, Jac Caglianone and Pasquantino delivered extra-base hits in a three-run eighth, and Pasquantino capped the scoring with a grand slam in the ninth off Tyler Tolbert, Caglianone and Maikel Garcia reaching base ahead of him.
The loss dropped Kansas City back to 13 games under .500, erasing the gains from an earlier stretch in which the club won 13 of 15.
