Big 12 Honors K-State's Lundgren and Massey in Starting Seven

Two Kansas State volleyball players earned Big 12 Starting Seven recognition after the Wildcats opened the season 8-0.

Kansas State volleyball players Cadence Lundgren and Addison Massey earned spots on the Big 12 Starting Seven, the conference announced, recognizing their play as the Wildcats opened the season with eight straight wins.

Lundgren, a sophomore, totaled 14 blocks across victories over No. 20 Creighton and Omaha. Ten of those blocks came against the Blue Jays, a career high. She was the only Big 12 player to post double-digit blocks during the week, ranking third in the league at 1.75 blocks per set and tying for second with her 14 total blocks.

Massey, a freshman, delivered the first 20-kill match by a Wildcat this season, hitting that mark versus Creighton while adding a team-best 15 digs for her first career double-double. She ranked seventh in the conference at 4.50 kills per set and eighth at 4.94 points per set.

K-State stands as the only unbeaten team remaining in the Big 12. It marks the second time the program has gone undefeated before league play, and the first since 2012. The Wildcats begin Big 12 competition on the road at UCF on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 5 p.m.
