Report: Kawhi Leonard, Raptors Agree to Two-Year, $115M Extension

Toronto has locked in the 35-year-old forward on a deal that includes a player option, according to ESPN.

Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors have reached agreement on a two-year contract extension worth $115 million, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Tuesday. The deal, relayed by Leonard's agent Harrison Gaines of SLASH Sports, carries a player option for the 2028-29 season.

The 35-year-old had been heading into the final season of a three-year, $149 million contract signed with the LA Clippers in 2024, scheduled to pay him $50.3 million in 2026-27. The extension follows an eventful offseason in which Toronto acquired Leonard in a trade that was paused while the league examined whether he had received impermissible benefits when he first joined the Clippers.

That probe cost the Clippers five first-round picks and owner Steve Ballmer a $30 million fine, while Leonard was docked $700,000 but not suspended. Once he was cleared to play, the trade was finalized in September.

Leonard's return to Toronto comes seven years after he led the franchise to the 2019 NBA championship in his lone season there before departing for the Clippers. His Los Angeles tenure produced four All-Star selections and averages of 25.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists across six seasons, though the club never won a title.

Last season, Leonard posted a career-best 27.9 points per game and received MVP votes, but the Clippers finished 42-40 and were knocked out of the play-in tournament by the Golden State Warriors.
