Williams fumble renews questions as Corum pushes for bigger Rams role

A 10th career fumble by Kyren Williams and strong efficiency from Blake Corum have raised questions about how the Rams will split carries.

Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams put the ball on the ground during Monday night's 28-6 victory against the New York Giants. It was the 10th fumble of his Rams career, and it came in a game where his grip on the lead job looked less secure.

Backup Blake Corum also briefly lost possession against New York, but he recovered it himself, keeping his record clean in that department. In Week 2, the two backs received an identical number of carries, with Williams producing just six more rushing yards. Williams still dominated playing time, logging over 60 percent of offensive snaps to Corum's fewer than 30 percent.

Season totals favor Corum on a per-carry basis: he has 133 yards on 22 attempts, while the 26-year-old Williams has 126 yards and a touchdown on 23 attempts. Williams built his standing as the starter with a 2025 campaign of more than 1,200 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. Corum, 25, ran for 746 yards and six scores last season as the No. 2 option.

How the coaching staff divides the workload going forward is now a talking point for fans and fantasy players. The 1-1 Rams travel to play the Denver Broncos, also 1-1, on Sunday in Week 3.
