Eagles Edge Titans 24-20 as Hurts Delivers Late TD Drive

Jalen Hurts capped a game-winning drive with a 3-yard touchdown pass to Darius Cooper with nine seconds remaining in Nashville.

Jeffrey Simmons stirred things up before Philadelphia's trip to Nashville, saying the Titans needed to force Hurts to "be a QB" by keeping him in the pocket and cutting off his scrambling. Hurts answered by going 26 of 37 for 264 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in a 24-20 Eagles victory.

The decisive moment arrived with nine seconds on the clock in the fourth quarter, when Hurts connected with Darius Cooper from 3 yards out to put Philadelphia ahead. He completed 6 of 8 passes for 61 yards on that final drive.

After the final whistle, Hurts' mother, Pamela, posted a TikTok video in which she declared that her quarterback is more clutch than anyone else's. Hurts himself addressed Simmons with a grin, saying, "You started that s—" and "I had to finish it."

Simmons then explained his earlier remarks were not meant as criticism, noting Hurts is a Super Bowl MVP and that his point was simply about containing his running. Coach Nick Sirianni praised Hurts' drive to improve even after all his success.

Per Elias Sports, Hurts became just the second quarterback ever to win his first six career road openers. On the 2026 season, he has completed 64.5 percent of his throws for 467 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions, plus 62 rushing yards on 12 carries.
