Bad blood between the programs surfaced publicly after Oregon released video of Lanning's pregame speech before last season's win, in which he dismissed USC as a program 'living off their history' and referenced former stars Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush.
USC responded over the offseason with social media posts aimed at Oregon after flipping two Ducks recruiting commitments, including Southern California product Danny Lang and four-star offensive lineman Drew Fielder. Asked about the taunts in spring, Lanning said he was 'much more focused on winning in the fall.'
Speaking Monday, Lanning called the matchup 'as intense as it gets' and emphasized staying focused on preparation and execution rather than the occasion.
