The former NFL quarterback backed the Raiders starter for the award after Las Vegas opened the season with two straight wins.
Kirk Cousins has the Las Vegas Raiders at 2-0, and Russell Wilson believes an individual honor could follow. Appearing on "Set, Hut!", the former NFL quarterback picked Cousins as his choice for Comeback Player of the Year.
Wilson, who praised the 38-year-old's determination, pointed to how Cousins has handled recent adversity. He noted that Cousins has dealt with plenty over the past two seasons, including outside doubters, and has answered them with the toughness that has defined his career.
The veteran has been sharp through two weeks. He threw for 160 yards and three touchdowns on 21-of-30 passing in a Week 1 win over Miami, then added 253 yards and three scores on 19-of-29 against the Chargers in Inglewood, California.
Cousins, who joined the Raiders on a five-year, $172 million deal in April, previously worked with head coach Klint Kubiak for three seasons in Minnesota, where Kubiak coached quarterbacks and ran the offense. Wilson expects that connection to keep paying off.
If Cousins takes the award, he would join Jim Plunkett (1980) as the only players in franchise history to earn it. The Raiders visit the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
