Rams nearly even at running back in Week 2 win over Giants

Snap counts from Los Angeles' 28-6 victory show Blake Corum closing the gap on Kyren Williams and Aaron Donald returning to lead a reshaped defensive line.

The Los Angeles Rams beat the New York Giants 28-6 in Week 2 while managing a roster hit hard by injuries. Myles Garrett went on injured reserve, Puka Nacua and Jordan Whittington sat out, and Kamren Kinchens missed the game with a hamstring strain. The return of Aaron Donald, playing his first game since the 2023 playoffs, was the major positive.

On offense, the backfield is trending toward a true committee. Kyren Williams played only six more snaps than Blake Corum, and both backs finished with 12 carries. With the receiving corps shorthanded, Konata Mumpfield led all Rams receivers in snaps, three more than Davante Adams, whose workload eased once the game was decided. Xavier Smith and Tutu Atwell followed, while CJ Daniels was inactive again.

At tight end, Colby Parkinson remained the starter, with Terrance Ferguson and Davis Allen sharing the No. 2 role. Tyler Higbee played just 16 snaps after 12 in Week 1, well behind the rotation.

Defensively, Trent McDuffie, Quentin Lake and Kam Curl played every snap, with Jaylen Watson missing only three. Josh Wallace (36 snaps) was the top backup safety with Kinchens out, ahead of Jaylen McCollough. Donald logged 33 snaps, second among defensive linemen only to Kobie Turner, while Poona Ford's role shrank as the Giants played catch-up through the air.

With Garrett sidelined, Josaiah Stewart led the edge rushers at a 79% snap share, followed by Byron Young at 71%. Wesley Bailey moved ahead of Desjuan Johnson as the third edge rusher and recorded the team's first sack of the season, the first of his career.
