The Baltimore Ravens dropped their first game of the 2026 season, falling to the New Orleans Saints at M&T Bank Stadium on September 20. A film review of the loss, however, highlighted three starters who impressed: right tackle Roger Rosengarten, linebacker Trenton Simpson and wide receiver Rashod Bateman.
Rosengarten, now in his third NFL season, played 58 snaps against New Orleans and did not allow a single pressure. He has now gone two games and 73 pass-blocking reps without yielding one. His 78.2 true pass set grade reflected a player winning with better hand placement and stronger initial contact, and he occasionally 'lost slowly' — staying connected to rushers and extending their path to quarterback Lamar Jackson. A new snatch-and-trap counter, where he used a defender's momentum to pull him down, underscored his technical growth.
In the run game, Rosengarten climbed roughly seven yards past the line of scrimmage on one play to seal a second-level linebacker away from Derrick Henry's lane. If he keeps handling one-on-one blocks, the Ravens can direct extra protection help elsewhere along the line.
Simpson logged 42 snaps, producing two pressures, five tackles and 10 yards allowed across three receptions. He defeated a block on a screen to make a tackle for minimal gain, shed an offensive guard to stop a run in the backfield, and timed a jump on a blitz that closed a throwing lane and contributed to a sack.
With Zay Flowers out, Bateman took over as the top receiver and caught seven of nine targets for 88 yards and a touchdown, averaging 2.44 yards per route run while supplying most of Baltimore's downfield production.
