Acuña Jr. leaves game after foul ball strikes left leg

The Atlanta Braves star exited in the third inning after fouling a pitch off his left leg and limping off the field under his own power.

Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. was forced from Tuesday's game after fouling a pitch off his left leg during a third-inning at-bat.

The injury came on a full-count with two outs. According to reports from the ballpark, the ball struck Acuña in an unprotected area between his shin guard and his left knee.

Acuña was visibly in pain and received attention on the field. Manager Walt Weiss and the team trainer came out to check on him before he limped off under his own power.

Brewer Hicklen entered to finish the plate appearance. The severity of the injury was not immediately known, with the Braves approaching the stretch run and the postseason.
