The short version

- He started all three of Belgium's games this window with Thibaut Courtois managing his workload.
- Belgium beat Italy 2-0, lost 1-0 to France and won again against Turkey.
- His World Cup debut against Spain ended with an error leading to Mikel Merino's 88th-minute winner.
- Manchester United sit 12th in the Premier League with one win from five games.
Belgium's newspapers rated Senne Lammens seven and eight out of 10 after he kept a clean sheet in the win over Turkey on October 2.
Senne Lammens drew praise across the Belgian press after Friday's match against Turkey, with two newspapers rating the Manchester United goalkeeper's performance seven out of 10 and a third scoring it eight out of 10. The October 2 fixture rounded off a stretch of three consecutive starts for his country during the international break.
Lammens has been Belgium's first-choice goalkeeper for all three matches this window after Thibaut Courtois opted to manage his workload. The 24-year-old, called up ahead of the break, impressed in each appearance, according to the reviews that followed.
Belgium opened the window with a 2-0 victory over Italy. Lammens made six saves in the win and came away with a clean sheet, the first of his three outings.
A 1-0 defeat against France came next. Lammens kept a team coached by Zinedine Zidane from scoring for nearly the whole game before Michael Olise settled it with an 88th-minute goal.
Belgium then beat Turkey, and Lammens finished with a second clean sheet in three appearances. Het Laatste Nieuws, which scored him seven, reported that he stayed sharp throughout, including on one effort from Arda Güler, showed calm in possession, kept out a free kick in the closing minutes and covered the whole field to celebrate Belgium's second goal with De Bruyne.
Het Nieuwsblad also gave him a seven, writing that he had shown for a third straight match that he deserved the national manager's faith by making the saves required of him and getting the better of Güler. Voetbal Primeur went to an eight, calling it another excellent display from a goalkeeper who delivered whenever his country called on him, in a victory less comfortable than the final scoreline suggested. The eight was the highest rating any of the three outlets handed out.
The reviews mark a turnaround from a painful 2026 FIFA World Cup for the Belgian. Lammens made his tournament debut in the quarter-final against Spain, replacing the injured Courtois in the 71st minute with the game at 1-1. An error from the United goalkeeper then let Mikel Merino score the winning goal in the 88th minute.
His club season has drawn similar scrutiny. Lammens joined United in the summer of 2025 and performed strongly as the team finished third in the Premier League last season. The 2026-27 campaign has been harder, with one win from five league games leaving the side 12th in the table, and the goalkeeper has been criticized by Roy Keane. Supporters will hope his international form carries over during a demanding run of fixtures at Old Trafford.
Manchester United's next scheduled game comes Saturday, October 3, when Liverpool visit Leigh Sports Village for an 8:30 a.m. EDT kickoff. The match airs on Paramount+.
