Tennessee, off to an 0-2 start, travels to MetLife Stadium on Sunday to face a New York team turning to Jameis Winston at quarterback.
The Tennessee Titans play their first road game of the season in Week 3, traveling to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, to meet the New York Giants on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. CST. At 0-2, Tennessee sits where it did not want to be through two weeks, and while the season remains young, another defeat would deepen the hole considerably.
Quarterback is the biggest storyline on the New York side. Jaxson Dart is done for the year, and Jameis Winston will step in, making his first start of 2026 on Sunday. His most recent action came Monday night against the Rams, when he connected on 11 of 27 throws for 111 yards and an interception after Dart went down. That 40.7% completion rate was the lowest for a Giants quarterback with at least 25 attempts since 2017.
Tennessee, meanwhile, continues to seek steady play from second-year quarterback Cam Ward. He has connected on 61.5% of his passes for 323 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions this season, and he has gone 173 straight attempts without being picked off, a streak reaching back to last year. Even so, his output has been modest at 161.5 passing yards per contest.
The run game carries extra weight this week, with rain and wind in the forecast for East Rutherford. Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears both sat out Wednesday's practice with ankle issues; Pollard got back to limited work Thursday, while Spears stayed sidelined. The source notes Pollard often practiced on a limited basis last season and still handled a full workload on game days.
Tennessee's ground attack showed progress against Philadelphia with 122 rushing yards after managing only 64 in the opener against the Jets. New York has permitted 116 rushing yards per game, 20th in the NFL, and the Titans lead the league at 6.36 yards per second-down carry. Staying on schedule would keep Ward out of obvious passing downs and let Tennessee set the pace.
Defensively, making Winston uncomfortable ranks near the top of the priority list. Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, who praised Winston as a great leader and competitor, has recorded 13 quarterback pressures through two games — the most among NFL defensive tackles and third-most overall. Generating pressure with four rushers would free resources to handle Malik Nabers and the Giants' ground game.
Rookie running back Cam Skattebo presents another challenge. He has run for 117 yards and a score through two weeks and accounts for seven of New York's rushing first downs, and he actively seeks contact rather than simply running to open space. Rookie linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. has already posted 26 tackles, the NFL's best two-week total and the second-most by any player in his first two games since 2000.
The turnover margin could prove decisive in a game likely decided by a few possessions. Tennessee has committed just one giveaway, a fumble, against two interceptions forced, leaving it at plus-1. Winston, for all his big-play ability, has historically been prone to mistakes under pressure, and extending Ward's interception-free run remains a priority for the Titans.
Fans can watch the Titans and Giants on Sunday, September 27 at 1:00 PM EDT from MetLife Stadium, with the game airing on CBS.
