Week 6 TSSAA Football: Friday Scores Across Tennessee

Alcoa, Maryville, Baylor and Science Hill were among the winners as Tennessee high school teams played Week 6 games on Friday, Sept. 25.
Tennessee high school football reached Week 6 on Friday, Sept. 25, with TSSAA games played across Knoxville, East Tennessee, Middle Tennessee and the Memphis area. All scores were submitted to the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association state office, and matchups marked as region contests carried added importance in the standings.
In the Knoxville area, Alcoa rolled past Knoxville Fulton 41-7 in a region game, while Maryville handled Hardin Valley 45-20. Powell edged Knoxville Central 42-41 in a region thriller played Thursday. Farragut shut out Bearden 10-0, and Knoxville West beat Knoxville Halls 42-10 in another region matchup.
Other East Tennessee region results included Baylor's 45-17 win over MBA, Science Hill's 56-9 rout of Jefferson County, and Dobyns Bennett's 49-23 victory against West Ridge. Austin-Out wins came from Austin-East over Kingston 42-35, Clinton over Campbell County 55-14, and Elizabethton over Northview Academy 31-20.
Several East Tennessee games were decided by narrow margins. David Crockett nipped Gate City, Virginia 31-30, Greenback held off Eagleton 14-12, and Scott slipped past Cumberland Gap 14-12. Sequoyah beat Hixson 13-7, while Meigs County downed Sweetwater 28-21 in a region contest.
The region slate also produced lopsided scores. Rhea County blanked East Hamilton 55-0, Cosby defeated Hancock County 50-8, and Gatlinburg-Pittman overwhelmed Claiborne 54-12. Unicoi County rolled past Pigeon Forge 42-7, and Walker Valley beat Soddy Daisy 38-15.
In Middle Tennessee, Perry County dominated Gleason 57-0, while McMinn Central shut out Cumberland County 42-0. Montgomery Central edged Clarksville Academy 1-0. In the Memphis area, Melrose beat Hamilton 42-0, Raleigh Egypt shut out Memphis East 38-0, and West Covington defeated Ripley 36-3, all in region play.
Thursday region games in Memphis included Hillcrest's 27-0 win over Trezevant, Manassas's 30-0 victory against Middleton, and MASE's 14-6 decision over Mitchell.
A large number of Week 6 games had not yet reported final scores at publication time, including Bradley Central at Oak Ridge, Blackman at Oakland, Brentwood Academy at Ensworth, Christian Brothers of Missouri visiting Lipscomb Academy, and Whitehaven at Munford. Results will be reflected as they are submitted to the TSSAA state office.
