West Virginia counters with Michael Hawkins Jr., a former Oklahoma quarterback who has passed for 477 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions this season while also pacing the team with 322 rushing yards, averaging 7.3 yards per attempt, to go with six scores on the ground.

Statistics suggest a potential edge for the Cowboys through the air. West Virginia's pass defense is surrendering 246.7 yards per game, which ranks 14th among the 16 Big 12 teams. Conversely, the Mountaineers' ground-heavy approach could limit possessions and keep Oklahoma State's productive offense on the sideline.

After this weekend, Oklahoma State is idle before hosting UCF on Oct. 10, followed by road dates at Houston (Oct. 17) and Iowa State (Oct. 31), home games against Colorado (Oct. 24), Texas Tech (Nov. 14) and Kansas (Nov. 28), and trips to Kansas State (Nov. 7) and Arizona State (Nov. 21).

West Virginia heads to Iowa State on Oct. 3 for an 11 a.m. CT game on TNT, then hosts Arizona (Oct. 10) and Cincinnati (Oct. 17) before visiting TCU (Oct. 24), Texas Tech (Nov. 7) and Kansas (Nov. 21), with a home date against Houston (Nov. 14) and a season-ending 8 p.m. game at Utah on the Friday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, on Fox.
