Woman says she warned 49ers about impersonation suspect in December 2025

Gwen Herndon says she filed a concern through the team website months before the 49ers say they learned of the FBI investigation.

A woman identified as Gwen Herndon, described by ESPN's Kalyn Kahler as one of the alleged victims of Daejon Love, says she contacted the San Francisco 49ers about him on December 20, 2025. She says she submitted a complaint form through the team's website stating there was a federal investigation into a man posing as a 49ers player, and she named Love in the message.

According to the account, Herndon also wrote that Love stole money from women and was damaging the team's reputation. She says she received a reply from Levis Stadium guest services about a week later stating that the team takes reports of impersonation seriously, cannot comment on ongoing investigations, and encouraged her to contact law enforcement.

The 49ers have previously said, through an unnamed team source speaking to Kahler, that they were unaware of Love until the FBI contacted the club in August 2026. The team declined to confirm the December exchange or comment further when asked by Kahler.

Love and an alleged partner, Taylor Chan, were arrested on August 24. Authorities allege the two defrauded more than two dozen women of roughly $1.3 million, and Kahler has reported the total number of victims may exceed 60.
