San Francisco is bringing in the veteran wide receiver as injuries continue to deplete its receiving group, per an ESPN report.
The San Francisco 49ers are signing veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks to their practice squad, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The move comes with the 49ers' receiving corps hit hard by injuries. Demarcus Robinson sprained an ankle in Week 2, and Mike Evans hurt his hip in a win over the Dolphins. Ricky Pearsall is out for the season, and De'Zhaun Stribling will miss roughly two months after ankle surgery.
Cooks had recently worked out for the Baltimore Ravens before agreeing to join San Francisco. He spent last season with the Saints and Bills, and was the intended receiver on the interception that sealed Buffalo's playoff elimination by the Broncos.
Originally a first-round pick by New Orleans in 2014, Cooks has also played for the Patriots, Rams, Cowboys and Texans. His career totals include 734 receptions, 9,811 yards and 60 touchdowns.
