Chargers Place Njoku and Kolar on IR Ahead of Week 3 Visit to Buffalo

The short version
- Chargers placed TE David Njoku (fibula) and TE Charlie Kolar (forearm) on Injured Reserve, sidelining each at least four games.
- Oronde Gadsden II is the only tight end remaining on the Chargers' active roster.
- Los Angeles is also expected to be without LG Kayode Awosika and DT Dalvin Tomlinson.
- Bills WR DJ Moore (AC joint) and DT Ed Oliver (hip) are being monitored ahead of Sunday's game.
Los Angeles will be without its top two tight ends for at least four games as the Bills prepare to host the Chargers in Week 3.
The Los Angeles Chargers will travel to Buffalo for Sunday's Week 3 matchup short-handed at tight end. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Monday that the team is placing David Njoku on Injured Reserve with a fibula injury and Charlie Kolar on IR with a forearm injury. Both players must miss at least the next four games.
The moves leave Oronde Gadsden II as the only tight end on the Chargers' active roster. Gadsden, the son of former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Oronde Gadsden, played at Syracuse University from 2021 through 2024. Patrick Herbert, the brother of quarterback Justin Herbert, is on the practice squad and could be elevated for Sunday's game.
Los Angeles is dealing with other injury concerns as well. Bills reporter Sal Capaccio of WGR 550 reported the Chargers are expected to be without starting left guard Kayode Awosika and starting defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson after head coach Jim Harbaugh said both will miss some time. Wide receiver Ladd McConkey missed time earlier this season with a ribs injury but returned in Week 2 against Las Vegas.
Buffalo has its own health questions entering the game. Wide receiver DJ Moore, who suffered an AC joint sprain in Week 2, will be monitored during the week, and defensive tackle Ed Oliver is managing a hip injury.
