Twelve Section 9 boys soccer teams earn spots in latest NY state rankings

The New York State Sportswriters Association released its weekly boys soccer polls through games of September 19, with Section 9 programs represented in every class.

The New York State Sportswriters Association has released its latest high school boys soccer rankings, covering games played through September 19. Twelve teams from Section 9 earned mention across the six classification polls after three weeks of play.

Class AAA features two Section 9 sides. Newburgh sits third at 5-0, behind Commack (5-0) and Baldwinsville (6-0), while Monroe-Woodbury holds the No. 13 spot at 4-1. In Class AA, Cornwall is ranked 10th at 4-1 and unbeaten Goshen is 14th at 5-0. Huntington (7-0), West Genesee (7-0), Churchville-Chili (5-0-1), Garden City (8-1) and Vestal (4-0) occupy the top five.

Class A includes three Section 9 programs. Our Lady of Lourdes is third at 5-0, Mount Academy ninth at 4-0, and Beacon 15th at 4-2. Amityville (6-0), Rye (5-0), John Glenn and Walter Panas (4-0-1) round out the top five.

Class B has the largest Section 9 contingent, with four teams listed. Rhinebeck is ninth at 3-0, Dover 12th at 4-1, and Rondout Valley 18th at 3-1, behind top-ranked Carle Place (8-0), Lafayette-International (6-0), Livonia (6-0), Mattituck (4-0-1) and Manlius Pebble Hill (4-0).

In Class C, Chester is third at 4-0 and Burke Catholic 10th at 3-1, with East Rochester (6-0), Greenville (4-0-1), Wilson (7-0-1) and Frankfort-Schuyler (5-1) filling out the top five. Class D lists Fillmore (6-0), Chazy (7-0), Edmeston (6-0), Hamilton (7-0) and Madison (4-0), with no Section 9 teams ranked.
