Two weeks into the fantasy football season, a clear group of elite running backs has separated itself. Yahoo Sports ranked Jahmyr Gibbs of the Detroit Lions first for Week 3, with Detroit hosting the New York Jets. The Lions have scored more than 30 points per game this season, and the projection calls for at least 100 yards and a touchdown from Gibbs.
Kenneth Walker III of the Kansas City Chiefs sits second ahead of his first road game, a matchup with the Dolphins in Miami. Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers is third and faces Arizona at home, a defense he has historically performed well against. Derrick Henry of the Baltimore Ravens ranks fourth against a Dallas Cowboys run defense rated 30th in the league, and Buffalo's James Cook is fifth, projected to top 150 yards against the Chargers.
The middle of the list features Bijan Robinson of Atlanta, who gets quarterback Michael Penix back this week, Houston's David Montgomery in a game where the 0-2 Texans plan to control the clock, and Indianapolis's Jonathan Taylor, whose early production mirrors Henry's pace of 34 touchdowns and more than 2,100 yards. The bottom of the top 12 includes Breece Hall of the Jets against Detroit's 28th-ranked run defense, Cincinnati's Chase Brown facing Pittsburgh, Las Vegas rookie Ashton Jeanty playing in New Orleans, and Miami's De'Von Achane, who has 31 carries and 11 targets through two games.
