Four-Star Forward Frashad Tisby Commits to South Carolina

The Cross Creek High senior announced for the Gamecocks after fielding offers from roughly two dozen Division I programs.

Frashad Tisby, a 6-foot-6 four-star small forward at Cross Creek High School in Augusta, Georgia, announced his commitment to South Carolina on Monday. The senior-to-be picked the Gamecocks from a list of nearly two dozen Power 4 and Division I suitors, including Auburn, Clemson, Florida State and Xavier.

Tisby is rated among the top 100 basketball prospects nationally. Last season he helped Cross Creek capture its third Georgia High School Association Class AAA state title in a six-year span.

He has also distinguished himself academically, holding a 4.2 grade point average and drawing scholarship offers from Harvard and Yale. Tisby has said he intends to study cybersecurity in college.

In an interview with WJBF, Tisby said the campus visit and direct recruitment from head coach Lamont Paris sealed his decision. He added that Cross Creek coach Lawrence Kelly gradually expanded his role after a limited freshman season, which he credited with preparing him for the collegiate level.
