Jaxson Dart's knee injury worse than expected; Giants fans tie it to Trump rally appearance

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart left the team's Week 2 loss to the Los Angeles Rams with a knee injury, and a report the following day said an MRI showed the damage was worse than initially anticipated.

Dart was hurt on the Giants' opening drive. After throwing a deep pass intended for Theo Johnson, he was hit simultaneously by two Rams defenders and taken to the locker room. He did not return to the game, though he later watched from the sideline in street clothes.

Jameis Winston took over at quarterback, but the Giants failed to reach the end zone and fell 28-6.

Dart had introduced President Donald Trump at a rally in Rockland County, New York, in May before the season. After news of his injury broke, several users on X pointed to the appearance, with one writing that "the Trump curse strikes again" and another questioning whether Dart should have taken part in the rally at all.

One fan went further, arguing the Giants could not rely on Dart as a franchise quarterback in part because of the rally introduction. The team has not announced a timeline for his return.
