Jaxson Dart's knee injury now seen as significant, report says

Further testing on the Giants quarterback's knee suggests a long absence, with his season possibly over after a Monday night loss to the Rams.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart suffered a knee injury in Monday night's 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Early indications pointed toward a less serious outcome, with head coach John Harbaugh saying a devastating result had been avoided.

Follow-up testing, however, reportedly told a different story. The injury is now believed to be significant and could keep Dart out for an extended stretch, with missing the rest of the season described as a realistic possibility.

Jameis Winston replaced Dart against the Rams and is the only other quarterback on the Giants' active roster. Winston, who signed a two-year contract extension earlier this month, completed 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in relief.

The Giants fell to 1-1 with the loss. The report noted the roster still features weapons such as running backs Cam Skattebo, Najee Harris and Devin Singletary, along with pass catchers including Malik Nabers, leaving the team to weigh alternatives at quarterback if Dart is out for the year and Winston struggles.
