Report: Giants QB Jaxson Dart Likely Out for Season After Knee Injury

Further testing on Jaxson Dart's left knee revealed a serious injury, and NFL Media reports the Giants quarterback could miss the rest of the season.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart could miss the remainder of the season after follow-up testing showed his knee injury is more severe than initially believed, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport reported on Sept. 22 that Dart's MRI revealed a significant injury beyond the MCL sprain first suspected. Surgery is considered likely, and the quarterback is expected to be sidelined for an extended period, possibly the full season. Rapoport cited information gathered with colleague Mike Garafolo.

Dart was hurt on the final play of the Giants' opening drive during Monday Night Football on Sept. 21, when two Los Angeles Rams defenders hit him after a throw. He grabbed his left leg on the ground, walked off slowly under his own power, and was later ruled out of the game, which the Giants lost 28-6. Jameis Winston took over at quarterback.

Giants coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters that evaluations were ongoing and no final decisions had been made, declining to share details until choices were settled.
