HENDERSON, Ky. — Owensboro Catholic remained No. 1 in the Week 8 Home Team Friday Power 10, WEHT's weekly ranking of Tri-State high school football teams. The top five held its Week 7 order. The panel weighs wins, losses, injuries, strength of schedule and margin of victory or defeat when assembling the list.
The Aces (6-1) have not lost since a Week 1 defeat at Boyle Co., and none of their six consecutive wins has been by fewer than three touchdowns. Last Friday in Lewisport, Owensboro Catholic beat Hancock Co. 61-0.
Senior quarterback Dre'Mail Carothers threw for 416 yards and seven touchdowns, his second straight seven-touchdown game. The Aces defense has recorded shutouts in back-to-back weeks. Owensboro Catholic hosts Fort Knox in Week 8.
Memorial (Evansville, Ind.) stayed second at 7-0 after leaving Enlow Field with a 30-27 win over a Reitz side that entered the night 6-0. The Tigers led 14-0 early and 17-14 at halftime, then matched Reitz's 13 fourth-quarter points to win by a field goal. The unbeaten run spans this season and the previous two regular seasons.
Seniors led Memorial: quarterback Luke Brown passed for 234 yards and two touchdowns, running back Gene Aimone rushed for 109 yards and added 59 receiving yards and a touchdown, and linebacker Grayson Carter recorded 16 tackles to go with one rushing and one receiving touchdown. Underclassmen De'andre Fellows and Dru Ellis have delivered frequent strong showings. On Friday the Tigers meet fellow unbeaten Floyd Central (7-0).
Gibson Southern (Fort Branch, Ind.) held third at 6-1 after a 70-0 win over Washington in which starting quarterback Caden Rochleau was rested. Junior backup Gabe Foster passed for 191 yards and accounted for five touchdowns, while senior receiver Peyton Johnson finished with 127 receiving yards and two scores. Johnson has been held under 100 receiving yards in only one game this season. The Titans play at Boonville on Friday.
Owensboro (Ky.) kept fourth at 5-2 after a 57-point outburst against Marshall Co., including 42 points in the first quarter behind quarterback Tyson Biggs. The Red Devils have not allowed more than seven points in any win this season. Muhlenberg Co. is next on the schedule, and based on the original timeline, Week 8 could mark the return of quarterback Damarcus Ganaway Jr. from the collarbone injury he suffered in Week 1.
Reitz (Evansville, Ind.) stayed fifth at 6-1 despite the loss. A year after losing to Memorial by 21 at home in 2025, coach Brunson's Panthers lost by three on the road this time, recovering from a first quarter in which they gave up 14 unanswered points and keeping the game in doubt late in the fourth. Quarterback Hunter Moers passed for 290 yards and two touchdowns, and running back Amyr Wilford posted 200-plus yards from scrimmage.
