Mohawk Valley Football Player of the Week Poll Open Through Friday

Eleven eastern Section III performers are on the ballot for the Mohawk Valley's fourth high school football Player of the Week of 2026, with voting open until noon Friday, Oct. 2.
High school football's fourth week of the 2026 season is complete across New York, and readers can now choose the Mohawk Valley's top performer from eastern Section III. The ballot carries 11 nominees, and voting stays open until noon on Friday, Oct. 2. Carbone's at The Fitness Mill sponsors the poll.
Dolgeville has a monopoly on the award through three weeks. Teammates Wyatt Eggleston, Logan Comstock and Caleb Herringshaw have claimed the first three weekly honors of the season, meaning the Week 4 result will either continue that streak or hand the recognition to a new school.
The game between Rome Free Academy and Proctor supplied two nominees. RFA senior Mark Barone threw for 274 yards and four touchdowns, with three of those scores arriving in the fourth quarter and the final one coming with 20 seconds to play as his side edged Proctor by a single point.
Holland Patent's Ethan Briggs did his damage both ways in a defeat of Adirondack, finishing with 170 yards and two touchdowns through the air plus 126 rushing yards and another score. Waterville junior Ian Carney passed for 149 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 85 and one more in a victory over Frankfort-Schuyler.
Passing production fills much of the ballot. Herkimer sophomore Brett Saunders racked up 307 yards and three touchdowns through the air along with one rushing score in a win against Beaver River, the highest single-game passing total among the nominees. West Canada Valley senior Sam Stewart delivered 272 yards and four touchdowns and tacked on 85 rushing yards with three additional scores in a matchup with New York Mills.
Little Falls junior Colton Morrone filled the stat sheet at Mt. Markham. He hit 7 of 8 throws totaling 162 yards and four touchdowns, gained 100 yards and a score as a runner, and came away with two interceptions, bringing the first back for a touchdown.
Four ball carriers also made the list. Morrisville-Eaton junior Wesley D'Imperio rushed for 230 yards and four touchdowns in a win against Sherburne-Earlville, and Whitesboro senior Gio Lang piled up 273 yards and five scores in a victory over Watertown. Proctor senior Jai Phillips ran for a personal-best 289 yards and found the end zone four times in the one-point loss to Rome Free Academy.
Oneida senior Charles Stoker ran for a career-best 228 yards and two touchdowns and took a kick back for a score in the Express's first victory of the season. Vernon-Verona-Sherrill sophomore Deagan Williams brought back two kickoffs for touchdowns during the opening quarter of the unbeaten Red Devils' win at New Hartford.
Ballots will be accepted until the noon deadline on Friday. The winner will join Eggleston, Comstock and Herringshaw on the 2026 honor roll.
