The Jackson Polar Bears captured the overall Federal League girls tennis championship on Sept. 19, using five titles at the league tournament to take the tournament crown. The result completed a perfect 6-0 run through Federal League regular-season play.
Jackson's individual champions were Ashley Helle at second singles, Laila Tadayon at third singles, Halle Smith and Kami Rieder at first doubles, and Lindsay Helle and Ralyn Moss at second doubles.
The top singles flight went to Perry's Makenzie Fearon, who dropped the opening set before rallying to win. Fearon was also chosen as Federal League Player of the Year, while Hoover's Kay McHolm earned Coach of the Year honors.
The all-league selections featured first-team singles picks Fearon (Perry), Claire Williams (Jackson), Avery Dempsey (Hoover) and Ashley Helle (Jackson), with Halle Smith and Kami Rieder of Jackson among the first-team doubles choices alongside Hoover's Maria Fernandez and Lexi Potashnik.
