Alvi Dasuyev improved to 10-0 with a decision win over Jaden Ortega on Contender Series, and both men left with UFC contracts.
Alvi Dasuyev remained unbeaten and secured a spot on the UFC roster by outpointing Jaden Ortega over three rounds on Season 10, Week 7 of Dana White's Contender Series. The judges' verdict ran Dasuyev's professional mark to 10-0. He has gone past the first round just twice in his career.
UFC CEO Dana White handed contracts to both men, commending Dasuyev while acknowledging Ortega's showing in the bout.
Speaking afterward, Dasuyev described joining the UFC as the fulfillment of a long-held goal. "It's a dream that's coming true," he said, adding that he was grateful and happy.
He also pointed to travel fatigue as the reason he could not end the fight early. Had he felt fully fresh, Dasuyev told Laura Sanko, he believes a knockout would have come. "I hate that guy, to be honest," he said of jet lag.
